"A 1938 Screwball Comedy Set in the Far Off Future of 2018."
SLC Fanboys Tysen Webb & Andy Farnsworth are joined in Park City, Utah, by the highly entertaining Jamie Greenberg, writer and director of the indie film "Future '38" -- making its debut at the Slamdance Film Festival.
Mr. Greenberg's film is described as a screwball time-travel comedy "made" in 1938 (even shot in black & white) but set in the far-future year of 2018 (glorious Technicolor) -- and is the Slamdance film Andy is most excited to see. It's probably the only film at the festival (and certainly the only comedy) to feature a Neil Degrasse Tyson appearance!
FUTURE '38 pays homage to a multitude of films from the past--including THE WIZARD OF OZ and humorously answers the very-meta question: How do WE think the people from 1938 might have pictured our modern day? You'll definitely recognize Sean Young (BLADE RUNNER, STRIPES, ACE VENTURA) and Ethan Phillips (STAR TREK VOYAGER) among the cast, which also includes Nick Westrate, Ilana Becker, Robert John Burke and Betty Gilpin.
Future '38 was produced by Joanna Bowzer, Daryl Goldberg, and Jonathan Gray.
