He was introduced in "The Amazing Spider-Man" comic book in the 1970's, but the character Frank Castle, aka "The Punisher," and his one-man war on crime have certain garnered their own popularity and following in the years since.

But after three poorly-made and disappointing attempts to bring the character to the big screen since 1989, Netflix recently released a more well-received version of Punisher starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle in the street-level MCU world of "Daredevil" and "The Defenders."

Dec 8, 2017

In this episode, Andy Farnsworth and Aaron Zundel are joined once again by guest comic book expert Josh Leavitt to give a spoiler-free review of Marvel's "The Punisher" series on Netflix.

Jon Bernthal (from "The Walking Dead") stars as Frank Castle, a war veteran who wants revenge on the criminal scum that killed his family, and his brand of justice doesn't include jail, lawyers or courts.  We first met Castle, who calls himself "The Punisher," in season two of "Daredevil" on Netflix, but now Castle is featured in his own (hyper-violent) series.

If you haven't watched the series yet and are on the fence, give us a listen and see if we convince you!

NOTE: We also have a podcast episode on the history of "The Punisher," both in the comics and on-screen (that DOES contain spoilers) that we recommend you check out as well!

Marvel has dropped the first trailer for "Avengers: Infinity War" and it has EVERYONE: The original Avengers: Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow (but curiously no Hawkeye?); the new guys: Black Panther, War Machine, Falcon, Spider-Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange (but not Ant-Man?)

Tysen Webb, Andy Farnsworth and Aaron Zundel react to what they saw (Heroes reunited! Earth in peril! Thanos in action!) and what they liked, plus we talk about what this could mean for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.

Nov 17, 2017

"Star Wars: Battlefront II" is expected to be one of the biggest-selling console games this holiday season and a key to getting some consumers/fans to finally buy that PS4 or Xbox One.

In this video episode of the podcast, Andy Farnsworth and Aaron Zundel are joined by passionate gamer Ethan Millard of KSL's Nightside Project podcast to talk about the history of first-person shooter (FPS) video games. Marvel and Disney proved big superhero team-ups could work on the big screen with the "Avengers" franchise, now it's Warner Brothers and DC Comics' turn to bring all of their heroes (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg) into one movie.

In this episode, Andy Farnsworth, Aaron Zundel and Tysen Webb are joined by comics superfan Josh Leavitt to review "Justice League" and talk about whether or not the DCEU is finally on track after an extremely rough start.

With the exception of Wonder Woman's mega-hit solo movie, the other DCEU films have had a less-than-stellar reception from fans, but now all their eggs are in one basket.

We talk about whether or not "Justice League" works, whether we think Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon do a better job portraying the characters this time than the previous movies, and how we rate the health of the DCEU going forward.  This one is not to be missed!

Nov 14, 2017

"Star Trek Discovery" has now reached its mid-season point on the CBS All-Access streaming service and it's been well-received enough by viewers to already have a second season order.

In this episode of the podcast (which contains spoilers from the first 9 episodes), Adam Thomas, Tysen Webb and Andy Farnsworth go over what they've liked so far about the characters (specifically Lorca, Burnham, Stamets, Kol, and Tyler); plot lines; and even production elements.

We also speculate as to what we think might happen when the second half of season one begins in January 2018, and even guess at what we might get in season two.

An all-star cast headlined by Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot bring Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" to the big screen once again.

In this episode, Andy Farnsworth and Aaron Zundel give you an idea about what to expect in the movie without giving away any spoilers, what they liked and didn't like (if anything) about this adaptation of one of the most famous Whodunit stories in literary history.

We also talk about how and why Whodunits are one of the oldest fandoms, and explore how that genre eventually evolved into the superhero stories we enjoy today.

This week, Marvel's God of Thunder returns for another big adventure in "Thor: Ragnarok," and he brings even bigger laughs with him to the screen thanks to “Thor: Ragnarok” director, New Zealander, and comedic genius Taika Waititi.

But is that a good thing?

In this spoiler-free episode, Andy Farnsworth, Aaron Zundel and Tysen Webb are joined by former NFL linebacker and Super Bowl winner Jason Buck, who’s been a Thor expert, fanatic, and comic collector since childhood.

Together we talk the new movie, humor, how all these new laughs do or do not serve the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how and why The God of Thunder seems to be the brunt of the best jokes in his own movies.

"Thor: Ragnarok" stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Mark Ruffalo as Banner/Hulk, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster.

Ahead of the release of "Stranger Things 2", we're resetting the first season of "Stranger Things", the mega-popular streaming sci-fi/horror/suspense series from Netflix and the The Duffer Brothers.

(NOTE: This episode contains spoilers from "Stranger Things" season 1)

Tysen Webb, Andy Farnsworth and Aaron Zundel are joined in this episode by long-time Fangirl contributor and Deseret News reporter McKenzie Romero to talk about the epic first 8 episodes and why you should watch it, if you haven't already.

We explore one of the most important themes that "Stranger Things" explores--Innocence vs. Darkness, and particularly how the greater a character's innocence in the show, the greater the power they had against the forces of darkness.  We also discuss our thoughts for where things can go in Season 2, and what we hope to see.
